Nigeria’s Home-based Eagles begin their 5th African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign against 2016 hosts Rwanda in Tangier, Morocco. The tournament kicked off in Morocco on Saturday, January 13 as 16 of the continent’s best footballing countries prepare to battle it out for Africa’s second-tier international competition. In the last edition, the team under the leadership of Sunday Oliseh crashed out at the group stage despite Chisom Chikatara’s four goals. The CHAN rules state that only players who play club football in their native lands are eligible hence the best players from the Nigeria Professional Football Leagie (NPFL) will be on parade. Goalkeeper and skipper Ikechukwu Ezenwa is a fixture in the A team and will continue with the B team ahead of Oladele Ajiboye, of reigning Nigeria champions Plateau United. Ajiboye has won the World Cup with Nigeria’s U17 team 11 years ago and has featured for the U20 and U23 teams.
